Coaching

I focus on coaching senior, staff+ engineers and technical leaders. I have worked also with a few managers, because they can go through similar challenges.

The type of coaching I do is called transformational coaching because it focuses on your uniqueness as a person and unleashing your potential.

What this means is focusing on what you desire to become, versus helping you come up with solutions to a specific problem or putting together a CV. Transformational coaching goes deeper and enables lasting sustainable change.

Having experienced some of the challenges myself, I see how this aligns very well with the technical leadership journey: you have the technical experience, we focus together on updating your internal operating system to help you become the leader you desire to be. Not a copy and paste of someone else, but yourself. This is what transformation means. Challenges like influencing, amplifying your impact, communication, etc are more related to our being and our relationship with ourselves.

This is an opportunity to engage in focused, one-on-one coaching tailored to your specific goals and challenges, whether it's preparing for that promotion, scaling your influence, or navigating complex technical leadership scenarios.

What topics lead people to consider coaching?

  • Finding clarity in a new role, or after an internal change (like a reorg or manager change).
  • They have been trying to get buy-in to an important initiative, but struggling to gain traction. They crave a space for reflection and exploration.
  • Feel stuck or lost in a role, a company or their careers.
  • Have a very challenging relationship (most frequently with their manager) and have run out of ideas for how to improve it.
  • Have lost the enjoyment of work, every project and interaction feels the same. They want to ignite that spark again.
  • They are several decades into their career and eyeing the exit, but would like to contribute more meaningfully.
  • They are looking for a new role (as a result of layoffs, being driven out or other circumstances), interviews are frustrating and seem to get nowhere. They feel they are not showing up as they'd like and want to change it somehow.

Coaching is extremely rewarding. Our conversations are a private and safe space for you to express yourself, and I will support you all the way. But I don't want to sugar coat it. The process is not an easy one. Change is hard... yet exhilarating when you start to notice things shifting.

Coaching packages and duration

Typically packages will be:

  • 3 months/6 sessions (1 hour coaching conversation every 2 weeks, held over Zoom)
  • 6 months/12 sessions (1 hour coaching conversation every 2 weeks, held over Zoom)
  • Reflecting on your own between sessions (this tends to happen but I'll share a guide)
  • It might include some short articles to read to aid in the reflection process
